A network of hospitality management institutions, Sommet Education comprises Glion Institute of Higher Education and Les Roches Global Hospitality Education with a total of seven campuses globally. In her recent visit to New Delhi, Fabienne Rollandin, Director-External Relations, Sommet Education highlighted how they are delivering fine-skilled and innovative minds with international hands-on experience in the hospitality industry.

With Sommet, it is not just the courses but the holistic academic experience which makes a difference to every student’s personality. They run batches of 30-35 student in a multi-cultural environment of over 95 nationalities. The faculty onboard is also international and comes with in-depth practical know-how. Their students undergo two internships of six months each. Thus, by the time they complete their studies, they also possess a one year of work experience.

“We feel hospitality was born in Switzerland and after operating for more than 55 years now, we take pride in our state of the art academic learning with all our residential programmes. Students are at the heart of everything we do, hence we leave no stone unturned to push them out of their comfort zone in order to make them industry-ready,” she said.

India is among the top five source markets for Les Roches and ranks among the top ten for Glion. However, Sommet isn’t catering to one particular market but prepares students for the international hospitality landscape. India is a huge market for hotel brands, growing and developing with leaps and bounds. A number of international hotel chains have already ventured in India taking the quality of operations to the international level, more than ever, she commented.

We also maintain a close network with the employers in the hospitality industry to avail the best of opportunities to our students. On the placement front, over 70-80 companies come down each semester to select students for their business. Their internship rate is 100% while the placement ranks 89% on an average. Scholarships are also offered by Sommet to students on merit which are 20% of the tuition fees.

With two campuses in Switzerland and one in London, Glion offers Bachelor degree programme (3.5 years) and specialisation courses in the hospitality business, luxury management, hotel development and finance and international management.

Les Roches Global Hospitality Education features global positioning as its campuses are present in Switzerland, Spain and Shanghai. Here, students are prepared as the global hospitality scenario with a key focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, apart from the regular Bachelor’s degree programme (3.5 years).
